Slug One for Drew
Raising Awareness

Show Your Support

The Solo Cup fundraiser was created for my son Jazz, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 3. This year’s event, at Jazz’s request, we will focus on bringing awareness and support for pediatric Leukemia. With the growing number of people whose lives are affected by Leukemia, our support is needed more than ever. This year’s mission will be to aid one of our own, the Schock family, whose son, Drew, has recently been impacted by this devastating diagnosis.  In addition, a portion of the proceeds will be going to Seattle Children’s who directly support our local Tri-City community.

To fulfill our mission, we are asking for your support.  Please consider donating to the 8th annual Solo Cup Fundraiser. This year’s event will offer an evening of family fun for all ages with a live band, kid zone, food vendors, beer garden and raffles throughout the night.  Donation suggestions are monetary, gift cards, gift baskets and/or products/services.  All monies raised will be used to support the Schock Family, Leukemia Research and CURE for IBD, which will have a residual positive impact on the community.

We are doing this one for Drew!

Jazz and Drew grew up playing for the Richland National Little League together. Drew’s dad Doug, was always their coach and Drew’s mom Teresa always in the stands taking care of the books, the snacks and the encouragement!  Jazz wasn’t the best, fastest or the strongest player on the team but Doug always made sure he was included and made him feel like he was a rock star! Our families created a bond right from the start, maybe a higher power just knew we would need each other one day. Always supporting Jazz with his illness and checking in on us when we were in the off season, the Schock family has been more than just a “baseball family”. Drew even did a little fundraising on his own and brought a check over to Jazz to show his support during one of our Solo Cup Events. So, when we got the news of Drew’s diagnoses, Jazz didn’t hesitate to say “We are doing Solo Cup for Drew this year”. You can read more and follow along with Drew’s journey on the link for the Caring Bridge you’ll find on this page. We hope to see many of you at the Solo Cup this year, as we are doing it BIG and we are going to Slug One for Drew!
